Over the last two weeks, we have seen videos of high officials of Planned Parenthood negotiating prices for the sale of human body parts obtained as a result of abortions. The videos were obtained when actors went undercover to pose as buyers and filmed the resulting conversations with the officials of Planned Parenthood. The heart of the conversations was released as two separate videos, and these are the ones that have been in the news. The entire unedited encounter between the Planned Parenthood officials and the undercover actors is posted on line, though, so the full context of the statements by Planned Parenthood has been released.
That is why the counterattack by Planned Parenthood seems so strange. Here is what the head of the organization said on ABC over the weekend about the people who released the video:
"The folks behind this, in fact, are part of the most militant wing of the anti-abortion movement that has been behind, you know, the bombing of clinics, the murder of doctors in their homes and in their churches."
Really? It's a video of the Planned Parenthood speaking, not a bomb in a doctor's office. Are they kidding?
The pro-abortion forces are also trying to use the government to counterattack. They have the Attorney General of California starting an investigation not into the sale of baby parts; that apparently does not matter. No, the AG of California is investigating the people who secretly took the video to see if any laws were broken. (Hint, they were not.)
This response shows just how bizarre the conversations in this country have become when they pertain to abortion. Too many supporters of abortion just won't consider any sort of restriction or limitation in connection with the whole subject. There's a big difference between limiting abortion and stopping the sale of baby parts for profit by Planned Parenthood. I see it; why can't they?
