Politico is a website that pretty clearly leans left while masquerading as a "straight" news source. Supposedly, readers are to believe that the news they get here is even handed, but the reality is quite different. If there is a way to slant the news in favor of the Democrats, Politico always comes through.
I was reminded of this again today when I read and article headlined "Judge not: GOP blocks dozens of Obama court picks". According to the Politico article, the senate Republicans have failed to confirm huge numbers of appointments by president Obama for the federal judiciary. The article even calls this delay by the Republicans unprecedented. If you just read the first twenty-four paragraphs of the article, you would not get to the actual truth. Only in the twenty-fifth paragraph do we learn that there are 63 vacancies on the federal bench, but that Obama has failed to nominate anyone for 47 of those positions. That's right, there are only 16 nominees at the moment, some of whom were just named. When Politico says that the GOP blocks "dozens" of Obama court picks, it ignores the truth that there are not dozens of nominees by Obama. The empty seats on the courts are because Obama cannot be bothered to name candidates.
If you read even further, you find that the White House is not working with the senators from the state for which the judge is to be named. Normally, no matter which party is in the White House, judicial picks are made by agreement between the White House and the senators from that state. The incompetents at the White House haven't even gotten around to speaking to the senators, so it is no wonder that there are no nominees.
Finally, you come across this tidbit if you read the whole article: the lowest number of approvals of judicial nominations in modern times came in 2009 when president Obama was in the White House and the Democrats had 60 senators which gave them absolute control of the senate. Remember all those articles on Politico back then about how the Democrats were blocking Obama court picks? Of course not. Only now do we get propaganda from Politico in which they try to blame the GOP for Obama's failure to do his job properly.
