I'm not sure when it became accepted practice by the liberal media to be anti-Israel, but the results of that shift are certainly apparent today.
First, there was a news story this morning that Israel has arrested dozens of people in the West Bank for plotting to carry out terrorist activities with Hamas. The plots included attacks on police stations, suicide bombings, stabbings of random Israelis, and the like. If that same news were about events in Virginia, we would be hearing about how the federal government had foiled a terror plot. In much of the left wing media, however, the Israeli arrests are portrayed as yet another unfair move by the Israelis against the Palestinians. That's right, the Palestinian terrorists are "victims" rather than terrorists.
Second, there is a story in Newsweek, the self-styled journal of liberal opinion, under the headline: "Ambulance lynching reveals Israel's secret war in Syria". So the Israelis are fighting a war in Syria, right? That's what Newsweek says, right? Well, no, that is not the case. If you read the entire article in Newsweek, you discover that what the Israelis are doing is providing medical treatment to people injured in the Syrian Civil War no matter if those who have been hurt are supported of the Assad regime, members of the rebels or just civilians. Israelis are treating wounded human beings without asking any questions about their politics, and this humanitarian act is described by Newsweek as "Israel's secret war". Are they kidding? But wait, there's more. Newsweek also reveals that in a few cases last winter Israelis gave blankets to some people on the Syrian side of the border who were freezing in the cold temperatures. Wow, now that's some heavy warlike act!
For the last fifteen years, we have watched the liberal media spread lies to move its political agenda forward. You know the usual stuff: Republicans are all racists and homophobes. There is a plan to take birth control away from women. Criticism of president Obama is all due to racism. If Democrats fight for an issue they are sure to loose, it is speaking truth to power; if Republicans do the same, it is obstruction or terrorism. The real threat to America is not Islamic terrorism; the forces of ISIS are not even Islamic despite what they say. Now we have to add the new claim: Israel, we are told, is a warlike oppressor of the poor Palestinians. We are to ignore the fact that the Palestinians have refused for the last thirty years to take some really good offers of peace that would have given them like 98% of what they asked for. We are to ignore the fact that the Palestinians say they want to destroy Israel and kill all the Jews while the Israelis say they want to have peace. We are to believe instead that all the problems are the fault of Israel. This is dangerous propaganda. It should be revealed as such.
