In a bombshell report, we learned today that the inspector generals of both the State Department and the intelligence agencies (assumedly the CIA) have asked the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into whether Hillary Clinton mishandled the sensitive government information on her private email account that she improperly used while secretary of state. Think about that. What this report means is that the whole effort by the Clintonistas to blame Hillary's email problems on Republicans is now officially dead.
1. The inspector general of the State Department is an Obama official. He is about as far from a Republican operative as one can get.
2. The inspector general of the intelligence agencies is also an Obama administration official. Likewise, that IG is not a Republican politico.
3. For the inspector generals to recommend a CRIMINAL investigation is an extremely major step, particularly when the subject is a former Secretary of State and the front runner for the Democrat presidential nomination. These two inspector generals realize that they are putting their careers on the line by doing this, but they went ahead anyway.
4. The recommendation for criminal investigation was revealed to the media by what the reporters call a "high government official". That is an indication that this is a move by someone at the White House, again, hardly a Republican operative.
5. The news of the criminal investigation was broken by the New York Times. The news report is still a bit slanted; it does not make mention of the fact that Hillary had about half of her email erased even though it was under subpoena at the time. Nevertheless, it must be killing the Times to have to report this news.
The report also makes clear that once again, Hillary has been caught in a lie. She told the media a few months back that she NEVER had classified information on her private email server. This story makes clear that much of what went on her email was of a classified nature. If the email on Hillary's server was not marked CLASSIFIED, it was only because she kept it from people who would have so indicated.
The Justice Department has not yet decided on whether or not to open an investigation. Now that the recommendation has been made public, however, you can be sure that a criminal probe will follow.
