Giving In On Everything-- Obama Caves To Iran

It's hard to get one's hands around the extent to which president Obama caved in to Iranian demands to achieve his "historic" agreement with the mullahs.  We've known for some time that Iran would get a nuclear weapon in the next decade under the Obama proposal; that did not change.  We did not know, however, that the inspection of Iranian activities would be set up in such a way that they would not really exist.  In the deal just announced, inspections will be by the UN upon request (sounds good), but only if the Iranians agree (so much for sounding good.)  If the Iranians say no, then there will be a seven nation arbitration which will decide on the inspections.  No doubt, that arbitration will take many months and, even if there is an inspection as a result, it will give the Iranians six months at a minimum to move any illicit activities elsewhere.  That translates into no MEANINGFUL inspection.

We also did not know that the ban on Iranian arms sales and ballistic missiles would be removed.  All those years of Iran secretly (and not so secretly) sending weapons to the Islamic forces fighting the USA in Iraq did not teach Obama the truth about Iran.  All those thousands of missiles that Iran sent to Hezbollah and Hamas for use against Israel did not teach Obama the truth about Iran.  No, Obama is going to let Iran start trading in weapons again legally in less than five years.  And the Iranian intercontinental ballistic missile program is structured so that it will be ready when the nuclear warheads to arm it are finished.

We did know that Iran was going to get major economic relief from the deal and Obama did not fail there.  Over the next year, the biggest single economic force in Iran will be the end of the sanctions.  Iran will no longer have trouble supporting Assad in Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and other forces around the world killing in the name of Islam.  Indeed, we will be paying for that death by releasing the sanctions.

So what did America get for all this?  That is a question that Obama really must answer.  What exactly did we get?  Obama says we averted an Iranian nuke.  That is demonstrably false.  He says we averted a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.  That too is false as the Saudis have already indicated that they too will be forced to go for nuclear weapons.  Will Egypt be far behind?  Obama talks of peace, but there is nothing in the agreement that moves in that direction.  The truth is that what we got was a chance for Obama to announce an agreement, a photo-op.  That's all; nothing more.

One has to wonder how many millions of people will die as a result of Obama's vanity and delusion.  Obama actually believes that his "achieving" an agreement, any agreement, is worth all the costs to the USA and world peace.  It is a sad day.
