Why Not Call It a LIE??

Hillary Clinton finally gave an interview to a reporter yesterday, and she lied.  Hillary was asked about her emails and the subpoena she received from Congress to turn them over.  Hillary responded that the reporter was "starting with assumptions" and continued by saying "I've never had a subpoena."  That's pretty clear.  Hillary Clinton said she never got any subpoena from Congress.

Today, the Trey Gowdy who chairs the House select committee on Benghazi produced a copy of the subpoena served on Mrs. Clinton last March.  He also produced a letter from Hillary's lawyer David Kendall to the House committee responding to the "subpoena duces tecum issued by the Benghazi Select Committee to the Hon. Hillary R. Clinton and served by agreement on March 4, 2015."  So we have the subpoena and Mrs. Clinton's lawyer confirms that it was served on her last March just like Gowdy says.

The response to Clinton's being caught in a lie is actually amusing.

First, we have the way that CNN reports the story.  They don't say that Clinton was caught in a lie.  They don't say that Clinton was untrue.  Nope, CNN says that a letter from Clinton's lawyer "undercuts" Clinton's subpoena claim.  Now imagine the headline if Donald Trump had exactly the same thing happen.  Then imagine the headline if Christie or Walker or Bush had made the same phony claim.  The folks at CNN just cannot bring themselves to call Hillary Clinton a liar.

Second, we have the Clintonian response from Hillary's campaign.  Suddenly, we are told that Hillary was speaking only about whether or not she had received a subpoena last December when the emails were supposedly deleted.  "I've never had a subpoena" is now supposed to mean "Last December when I deleted emails, I did not have a subpoena yet.  And by the way, even though you did not ask me if I had a subpoena back then prior to the deletions, I decided to reinterpret your question."  In other words, Hillary Clinton lied and her campaign is now struggling to cover up that lie.

America has already had nearly seven years of a pathological liar as president.  Do we want to extend the streak of dishonesty in the White House?
