Curt Schilling Fired?????

I have to say that I am amazed by Disney.  It fired Curt Schilling from the ESPN broadcasting team for the Little League World Series because of something he sent out on Twitter.  So what was this heinous tweet?  Did Schilling call a reporter a "bimbo"?  Nope, that was Donald Trump.  Did Schilling have the temerity to say "All lives matter"?  Not that either; that was Martin O'Malley who actually apologized for making such a disrespectful statement.  So what did Schilling say?

I hope I can get through writing this paragraph since what Schilling said is just sooooo terrible.  Curt Schilling compared the radical Islamic terrorists who are killing and maiming innocent people to Nazis.  OH, THE HORROR!!  Remember that video of ISIS burning the Jordanian pilot alive in a metal cage?  I guess we are supposed to call that "free speech" and not something that the Nazis might do.  Or how about when ISIS went into Yazidi villages in Iraq and Syria and murdered all the men and took the women and children as slaves?  Was that more "free speech"?  Is it just too offensive for us to say that these terrorists are murderous lunatics?  How could Schilling compare them to Nazis?

Ever since 9-11, there has been a growing movement NOT to say anything bad about Islamic terrorists (or even to call them Islamic terrorists.)  We just cannot offend the other Moslems by denouncing the ones who murder innocents in the name of their God.  According to our president, we are supposed to remember that 1000 years ago, some Christians killed Moslems during the Crusades.  That's right, Obama thinks that Americans are no better than the murderous thugs in the Islamic nut brigades.

Well guess what?  Obama and Disney are wrong.  Not only is it a good thing to point out the evil of the Islamic terrorists, but also it is an essential duty of all people with a conscience.  I don't know about you, but I never met someone who fought in the crusades.  In fact, I don't know anyone who can trace their ancestry back to the crusades.  It's time to get over that whole event.  Let's try to focus on the present.  And in the present, the Islamic crazies like ISIS, al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah and Boko Haram are killing innocent people for no reason at all.  They need to be stopped.  Exactly how that will be done remains to be seen.  Nevertheless, we cannot lose sight of what these terrorists are doing and how wrong it is.  If Shilling compares ISIS to the Nazis, that seems like a good comparison to me.

Look, there are not many groups of people who deserve to be compared to Nazis.  How many groups (1) use violence as a principal method to achieve their goals, (2) profess to genocidal aims as one of those goals, (3) actually murder people based upon nothing more than their ethnic or religious identities, and (4) claim to be acting in the name of a higher cause.  These days, it is really only the Islamic terrorists who fit the bill.  In other words, what Schilling tweeted was not wrong.  All that has happened is that Disney has decided to kowtow to political correctness run amok.

Disney should put Schilling back on the broadcast team.  That decision, of course, is strictly up to Disney, but, by the way, so is the decision whether or not Americans will visit Disneyworld or attend Disney movies, etc.  We all ought to let the Disney executives know that.
