The latest national poll from CNN among Democrats shows that Hillary Clinton is still ahead of Bernie Sanders by 18%. That sounds like a huge lead. But what would you say if I told you that three weeks ago, Hillary lead in the same poll of Democrats by 37%? During that time, Hillary's support fell by 9% while Sanders numbers rose by 10%. Put another way, if the trend continues for just one more month, Sanders will be ahead in the polls.
The reality is that these numbers show a ongoing disaster for Hillary among Democrats. Remember, these are national numbers, so there are huge segments of the population that don't even know who Bernie Sanders is or what he says. There is also a huge segment that really has no idea about Hillary's problems with emails, classified information, the Clinton Foundation etc. When the polling is done in the early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire where there is much greater coverage as well as TV advertising, the Clinton/Sanders race is already just about tied.
It's 2008 all over again: the inevitable candidate is being passed over by the people.
