I Have To Say I Liked It

Donald Trump's security team escorted Univision reporter Jorge Ramos out of a press conference today when Ramos tried to interrupt proceedings to ask a different question.  It was such a different move from the usual political press conference that it was stunning.  Trump called on a reporter at the start of the event and Ramos (who was not called on) jumped up and started asking his own question.  Trump said, "you weren't called."  Ramos continued with his question, and Trump again said "you weren't called, sit down."  As Ramos continued to interfere with the press conference, Trump told him to "go back to Univision" and then security came over and escorted Ramos from the room.

I don't know how this move played with the rest of America, but I liked it.  Ramos was not called on by Trump for the first question, and he had no right to just interrupt to ask his question ahead of the other reporters in the room.  Trump demonstrated once again that he will not be pushed around by the press.  Trump showed his strength.  For his part, Ramos must feel that he showed Trump to be a bully who threw him out of the event.  I have to believe Ramos might have gotten better optics by waiting his turn to ask a question.  If Trump then refused to answer, Ramos could have pulled his stunt, but Trump seems to take more questions and answer them than the majority of candidates.  Most likely, Trump has taken and answered more questions from the media in the last three days than Hillary Clinton has done in the last six months.

UPDATE:  I just saw how Yahoo News covered this story.  All you need to hear is the headline:  "Trump lashes out at Univision journalist".  If you just read Yahoo News, you would think that it was some unprovoked attack by Trump.  If you watch the video, however, you see that the aggressor was Ramos who refused to follow the rules and wait his turn to ask a question.

I decided to see how the other media covered the story.  Here's the CBS take:  "Donald Trump tells Jorge Ramos: "Go back to Univision"

Here's what ABC used as its headline:  Donald Trump Boots Jorge Ramos From Campaign Event.

Here's MSNBC:  "Donald Trump versus the press".  Strangely, so far ultra liberal MSNBC had the most even handed headline.

How about Fox News?  Here's their headline:  Trump has Univision anchor tossed from news conference.
