According to Politico, Jeb Bush called Donald Trump all sorts of names while speaking to a potential donor. Here's the way that Politico put the story:
“Seriously, what’s this guy’s problem?” he [Bush] asked one party donor he ran into recently, according to accounts provided by several sources close to Bush—and he went on to describe the publicity-seeking real estate developer now surging in public polls far ahead of Bush and all the 15 others in the Republican field as “a buffoon,” “clown” and “asshole.”
Notice how the sources are unnamed? Politico won't tell us who the supposed donor is. Nor will it tell us who are the "sources close to Bush".
My guess is that there are no such sources. No one close to Bush would tell others that Jeb had called Trump these names. It makes him look bad for sure. Why would a close friend want to do that?
The truth is that Politico wants to set off the Trump fireworks machine at tonight's debate. What better way is there for the attention to be focused on nonsense rather than on the nation's problems. From the standpoint of the liberal hacks at Politico, nothing could be better than to have the debate proceed focused on personal attacks among the GOP rather than on the incompetence and alleged criminality of Hillary Clinton.
Hopefully, neither Trump nor Bush will fall for this nonsense.
