A few hours ago, thing seemed bleak for Hillary Clinton on the email front. Now it seems worse. Here's what we know:
1. Out of a tiny sample (40) of Hillary's emails, the Inspectors General of the State Department and the Intelligence agencies found that ten percent were classified, even though Hillary had told us all months ago that she never sent or received classified information on her email.
2. Of the four emails from the sample that were classified, two were Top Secret. These are email containing extremely sensitive national security information.
3. The Top Secret information in these two emails came from satellite imagery and signals intercepts. Since the State Department does not have its own satellites or signals intelligence, this Top Secret information had to have come from an intelligence agency like the CIA or NSA. That means that when the information was sent to the State Department, it would have been labeled Top Secret.
Let's stop here for a moment. In the past Hillary said she never sent classified information. That turned out to be false as shown by the classified information in these emails. Hillary's fall back position was that she never sent information labeled as classified at the time she sent it. Since the Top Secret information in the email would have been labeled as Top Secret before it ever got to the State Department, Hillary's claim cannot be true.
4. Fox News reported tonight that a source in the State Department says that someone in the Clinton inner circle removed the Top Secret designation from the information that Hillary sent with her email. The person who removed the designation committed a federal crime by altering Top Secret documents. It may have been done by Hillary herself, but we do not yet know. Nevertheless, if Hillary knew that the Top Secret designation had been removed, she too committed a crime when she sent the email. In fact, if Hillary knew that the information was Top Secret, she committed a crime just by putting the stuff on her computer at her home.
What is really happening is that the ring around Clinton is closing. Right now, the FBI probably has enough information to start arresting people for the mishandling of classified information. It may take weeks or months for the investigation to move forward until it would be time for indictments, but there really is no way for Hillary to stop this once the FBI has the server. Clinton's fate is now in the hands of president Obama and attorney general Lynch. It seems hard to believe that Obama would let Hillary be indicted, but that would only be if Obama is happy to see Hillary as the nominee. On the other hand, if Obama wants to have Joe Biden instead of Hillary, we can all look forward to the inevitable indictment of Mrs. Clinton.
There must be a lot of screaming and crying tonight in Chappaqua.
