The Senate voted yesterday to keep the funding of Planned Parenthood the same for the time being. To be precise, the vote was on whether or not to take up consideration of a bill to defund Planned Parenthood. The vote was 53 to 46 in favor of the measure, but it takes 60 votes to pass such a measure. Every Republican except one voted for the bill. Every Democrat but two voted against it. (Mitch McConnell is also listed as voting "no" but that is a last minute switch done so that he can bring the bill up again in the future.)
Think about that. There have now been five videos showing absolute proof that Planned Parenthood is selling body parts of aborted babies. In the latest one, Planned Parenthood touts that it can offer complete "fetal cadavers" for sale. Imagine just how gruesome it is that this organization is offering intact dead babies for sale. Nevertheless, the Democrats announced that the measure was an attack on women's rights and pronounced themselves outraged by it. Keep in mind that the bill would take the money from Planned Parenthood and give it to other organizations that provide women's health services, so there would be no reduction in those services.
It is one thing to be pro-choice, but quite another to be in favor of ignoring the sale of body parts of dead babies. Hopefully, there are enough Americans out there who understand this, so that the Democrats pay a heavy price for this vote. The strident pro-choice groups that fight against any regulation of abortion are showing themselves for the extremists that they really are.
