The Latest From Asharq al-Awsat

Asharq al-Awsat bills itself as the "world's premier pan-Arab daily newspaper."  Today, the news it is reporting is really not that good.  It seems that the terrorists of Jabhat al Nusra in Syria are saying that the 45 Fijian members of the UN Peacekeeping forces are to be "tried according to God's laws."

We all know what that means.  We can expect some day soon to see the videos of the soldiers from Fiji being beheaded or crucified or killed in some particularly gruesome manner.  It seems that al Nusra does not want to be considered the junior varsity to ISIS's varsity.

The al Nusra terrorists have also begun to use the vehicles and uniforms of the UN troops to their own advantage.  There have been two car bombs set inside UN vehicles which were parked in areas controlled by the Assad forces.  The terrorists are also traveling across the region in Syria dressed as UN soldiers and riding in UN cars.  Al Nusra is also demanding ransom for the release of the soldiers from Fiji.  They want the UN to send them aid and also to remove their group from the list of terrorist organizations kept by the UN.

Isn't it time for the USA to denounce the capture of the UN soldiers and their use as hostages?
