Entertainment News No One Cares About

There's been a great deal of entertainment news recently.  So what?  Does anyone really care?
First we have the controversy about the Oscar nominations.  Those nominations come from the votes of members of the Academy of Motion Picture Blah Blah Blah.  It's people voting, and guess what:  there weren't any black actors chosen as nominees.  Hollywood always tells us that it is the most color blind community in the world.  So if all the nominees are white, isn't it possible that those were the actors that the members of the Academy thought did the best job?  Not if one requires that people be judged only by the color of their skin.  These phony liberals are being strung up by their own rhetoric.

Then there's the big upset over what Stacy Dash had to say.  Dash announced that if people are upset about the Oscar nominations then perhaps there shouldn't be a BET network or an awards show for black actors.  According to Dash, there either should be just one set of awards and a unified entertainment industry or not, but you can't have it both ways.  She is correct when she points out what the reaction would be if there were an award show for whites only as there is for blacks only.  In response to this statement, the usual liberals have gone off the deep end.  The ladies of the View almost all had a stroke when they heard what Dash had to say.  But why is that?  Is it that they just cannot stand that a black woman would hold views that did not call for a quota system for awards?

The reality is that none of this is important in the least.  Indeed, there are two underlying truths that cannot be denied.

First, the movies nominated for an Oscar this year and the stars in those movies were almost all second-rate at best.  Just because there are no good choices does not make the nominees worth watching.

Second, it's show business, that's BUSINESS.  If there's an audience that will pay to see movies of dancing birds, Hollywood will find a way to make those movies.  The networks and award shows and the rest just exist because there are people who watch them.  It has nothing to do with race whatsoever.
