Last night there were multiple "terrorist" events around the world and right here in the USA.
1. In Munich, Germany, the city's train stations were shut down and evacuated after authorities said there was a credible threat of an imminent terrorist attack at those locations. City residents were also warned to stay home and avoid crowds. By early this morning, the police said that they did not actually know for sure if the threat of attack was real or if the five to seven supposed terrorists even existed. Meanwhile, the city was heavily disrupted overnight.
2. In Rochester, NY, a man was arrested for his activities in planning to attack a local restaurant on New Year's Eve. After that, the mayor cancelled the city's fireworks for the new year. Other celebrations were also cancelled.
3. In Dubai, an enormous hotel burst into flames at roughly 9 PM. The government had the fireworks display go ahead anyway, even though the hotel fire was only a short distance away. As of now, no one is certain what the cause of the blaze was. Was there a connection to terrorism? We can only wonder.
4. In Belgium, many events for the new year were cancelled in fear of terrorist attacks.
5. The celebrations in Times Square in New York City went ahead with the usual million plus people crammed into the area. Security, however, was extremely tight with some 6000 police on hand, snipers on roof tops, and all sorts of other anti-terror measures put in place.
Put these together and what we see is that without doing anything, the terrorists caused disruptions to all sorts of people around the world.
So, is this the new "normal"? Because the terrorists have safe areas from which to operate and because there is only a half-hearted attempt to stop these groups, will the world now live under the constant and real threat of terrorist attack? If so, then it is a huge victory for ISIS and the other loonies.
