The Incredible Bernie Sanders -- Confusion or Deliberate Lie?

Just a moment ago, Bernie Sanders explained his healthcare plan to the people watching the Democrat debate.  What he said was absolutely wrong.  In short, Sanders repeated that he wants there to be a single payer "Medicare for all" plan which will require higher taxes on the middle class and the wealthy.  He then claimed that raising the taxes on middle class Americans would actually be a savings for them since they would no longer be paying ten thousand dollars annually in health insurance premiums.  The problem with Sanders' analysis is that most middle class Americans don't pay health insurance premiums by themselves.  For most people, their premiums are paid either all or mostly by their employers.  The average middle class family does not even pay half of their premiums.  Very few middle class families pay ten thousand dollars per year in premiums.  Bernie said that the cut in premiums (his $10,000 figure) would more than cover the increase in taxes.  For most middle class families, however, that cut in premiums may be zero or very little and those folks would see a major tax increase under Sanders' proposal.

So is Bernie confused?  He certainly seems it.  But maybe, just maybe, he's not confused.  It may just be another lie.  Goodness knows we heard enough lies from Hillary Clinton tonight.  Maybe Bernie feels he has to throw some lies out there just to stay competitive.
