We Got Our Answer: No one did watch Obama

On Friday, I wrote about the CNN "town hall" with president Obama to discuss guns.  My main question was whether or not anyone watched.  We now have the answer.  This live hour with Obama was soundly beaten in the ratings by Bill O'Reilly on Fox News.  Now O'Reilly is tough competition; he is regularly the most watched show on cable news, but CNN had the president of the United States for an hour!  The O'Reilly Factor drew an audience of three million fifty thousand people.  The CNN/Obama show drew an audience of just under 2.4 million people.  That means O'Reilly had over 25% more people watching.

What these numbers mean is simple:

1.  Most Americans do not consider gun control to be a major issue.

2.  Most Americans have tuned out Obama.  They no longer want to hear what he has to say.

It will be interesting to see the size of the audience for the upcoming State of the Union address to Congress.  My prediction is that Obama will have the smallest audience of his presidency for such an event.
