The news is out that Iran released the ten captive US navy personnel on the two ships who were "arrested" according to the Iranians for entering territorial waters. The two ships were released and new sailors are taking them to Bahrain. So far, so good. What has not been announced, however, is whether or not all the equipment on the ships also left Iran or if any was taken. Nothing the Iranians might do in that regard would surprise. For certain, the Iranians searched the ships after the crew was removed and took careful note of any items that might be new to them.
It's not surprising that the USA apologized to Iran over the incident. After all, think of it in reverse. Imagine that an Iranian ship were in the Atlantic and lost engine power. Then the Iranian ship drifted closer to the East Coast and the Coast Guard went out and towed the Iranian ship into port. Would Iran apologize, or would it just say thank you? Would the USA even ask for an apology? Of course not. But that's the state of the union under Obama.
It will be interesting to see if there was anything taken or any secret equipment disturbed on these ships. Most likely that will only come out through leaks. Obama would never let it be known intentionally.
