A Glimpse at the Future

Since no one pays any attention these days to the possibility of Iran getting nuclear weapons, it is probably worth the time to consider just what Teheran could do with a few nukes.

Some people dismiss the likelihood of an Iranian attack because the mullahs would know that destroying an American city would lead to overwhelming retaliation against Iran.  Of course, our current president and his advisers would probably want to limit any response to the same number of weapons since they would want to use "proportionate" force.  The problem, however, is that this argument is not really considering the full possibility of what the Iranians could do.  There is no reason to believe that Iran would limit its attack to one or two cities.

The most likely Iranian attack on the USA would come in the form of a high altitude blast over the central USA in order to generate a major electromagnetic pulse (or EMP).  An EMP knocks out all unshielded electric equipment in a huge area.  A blast over Illinois could bring down electric systems from Pittsburgh to Denver and from Canada to Texas.  Think about that.  Imagine that every computers and every electric generating system in that area went down.  Then imagine that a big number of cars and trucks that use computers or other electronics also went down.  Then add all the planes that got hit by the pulse going down.  There's even more, but the easiest way to consider things is imagine one bomb that put more than half the country back in the same condition as was the case before the Civil War.  That kind of attack would not kill people in the blast; it would just destroy the American way of life.  And, if three bombs were used instead of just one, then both coasts could be taken out as well.

So what would Iran (or any other nation) need to get such weapon in place?  The answer is intercontinental ballistic missiles or satellites.  Many people suspect that China already has weapons of this sort in orbit around the earth, ready when called upon to take out part or all of America's electronic infrastructure.  Iran does not yet have the satellite capabilities, but it certainly is far advanced in missile technology.  It well may be close to having the necessary tools to launch such an attack.

While we are considering this kind of attack, we ought to think about North Korea.  The North Korean leader, Kim Non Kardashian, already has the nukes he would need for the attack.  We also know that his people have been hard at work on the missile systems required for the attack.  The latest estimates from the Pentagon are that the NK's will have the missile systems ready within another two years.

Now remember, even if the USA gets zapped in this sort of nuclear attack, our submarines and overseas bombers will still be in place to launch a counterstrike that will take out the attacking nation.  But so what?  Destroying the crazies who would launch such an attack.  The mullahs will not stay away from attacking the infidel USA when they believe that should they die as a result, paradise and 72 virgins await them.  And Korea?  Kim is crazy enough to do almost anything, so why would a nuclear attack reign him in?

Put this all together and it clearly says that if Iran gets nukes it well may be the end of the world as we know it.  After all, wouldn't Iran like to get rid of the industry and military equipment of the USA and Europe so that any further battles could be on a level where the Moslem forces might win?
