Senator Harry Reid is the leader of the Democrats in that body. As such, he is by far the most powerful senator in Washington and has a great deal to say about what laws get passed. Despite all that power, however, Reid is a terrible person. He has a habit of saying terrible and untrue things on the senate floor where he is immune from a suit for slander. Beyond the lies, he also makes clear that he is something of a racist. Reid's latest racist escapade was reported today by Time magazine. Here is a "joke" that Reid made to a group of Asian Americans in Las Vegas recently:
“One problem that I’ve had today is keeping my Wongs straight.”
Really? Is this Harry Reid's way of saying that all Asian Americans look alike to him? In a world where places like Ferguson, Missouri are going up in smoke due to racial animosity, what could possibly drive Reid to make such a racist remark?
And it's not the first time for Reid to do this. Remember when Reid said that president Obama was electable because of his “light-skinned appearance and speaking patterns with no negro dialect.”
And while we're listing stuff, here are some of Reid's vicious lies told on the senate floor:
1. Mitt Romney paid no income taxes for ten years. -- This was totally untrue, but Reid not only said it, he repeated it.
2. The Koch brothers have been called evil and criminal by Reid on so many occasions that it is not worth making a list. Actually, the Kochs are extremely rich men who have given enormous sums to hospitals, universities and other charitable institutions. They also have supported political efforts that Reid does not like. That does not make them evil or criminal. They do not deserve to be treated this way by the most powerful man in the senate.
3. Remember when Reid announced that the surge in Iraq had failed and the war was lost? Of course, the surge had not even taken place yet when Reid declared it a failure. The surge worked and the Iraq war was won until Obama gave the victory away.
It truly is time for Harry Reid to be ousted as majority leader. The best way to do that is to vote for Republicans in November so that they take the majority away from the Democrats. Or you can vote to keep the dishonest racist in his position as majority leader. You choose.
