President Obama announced yesterday that there was no longer any need for a humanitarian effort in Iraq to rescue the Yazidis and Christians trapped near Sinjar. Obama told us that there were many fewer people under siege by ISIS than had previously been thought. Obama also said that the special forces soldiers who were on the ground to gather intelligence on the situation were being withdrawn.
Now, just one day later, we hear that ISIS this morning killed about 90 Yazidi men in the Sinjar area and simultaneously took the wives and children of the men captive to be used as prostitutes and slaves. Was this the ISIS answer to Obama's announcement? Was this just a normal, day to day atrocity from ISIS? Can it be that killing 90 and enslaving at least three times that number is of no concern to Obama because the numbers involved are too small? What the heck is Obama thinking?
I am embarrassed that the leader of our nation would make such a stupid announcement like the one yesterday. I understand that Obama's focus was domestic politics, but the subject is the lives of thousands of people. Can Obama really be prepared to consign all those people in Iraq to death and slavery just to satisfy the needs of his political base? Just imagine how the media and Obama would respond if the Democrats were portrayed as a party favoring slavery or death for one ethnic/racial group. BUT THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Obama and the Obamacrats are abandoning the Yazidis and the Christians in Iraq who have always been friendly to the USA.
It is a sad day. But Obama is playing golf on Martha's Vineyard. I hope he is enjoying himself.
