In the last few months, ISIS has done the following:
1. Captured a large section of Iraq.
2. Taken Iraqi soldiers who have surrendered an beheaded them.
3. Forced Christians in the territory they control to either convert, leave or pay heavy taxes.
4. Carried out a campaign of genocide against the Yazidi people in the newly conquered territory. This campaign consisted of the following:
a. Killing thousands of Yazidis. In particular, ISIS has used the method of burying alive large groups of Yazidi men. It has also crucified quite a large number of the Yazidis.
b. Making slaves of Yazidi women. For the most part, these women and girls are forced into acting as sex slaves for the ISIS fighters.
c. Taking Yazidi children and using them as slave labor.
d. Forcing tens of thousands of Yazidis out into the wilderness to starve or die of thirst. Fortunately, many of these folks have been rescued but a great many have died and still others remain at risk.
5. Announced that ISIS will continue its battles until its flag flies over the White House.
6. Killed large numbers of Sunni Moslems who disagree with ISIS.
This should have made it very clear who ISIS is and why ISIS must be destroyed. The risk is not just confined to Iraq and Syria. ISIS intends to carry its wacko brand of murder and religion across the world including to the USA.
That is why I find it so disturbing that there remain people in the USA who think that we ought not do anything to antagonize ISIS since that might lead the terrorists to attack America. That view has to be one of the most shortsighted and inane expressed in a long time. Dealing with ISIS cannot be avoided. It is a cancer. Unless ISIS is confronted and destroyed, it will grow stronger day by day. America has no choice but to fight ISIS. (The tactics to be used can be debated, but the goal is unquestionably the destruction of ISIS.)
For those who doubt this, please consider today's latest message from ISIS to the USA. It reads as follows: "We will drown you in blood." Enough said.
