The latest poll in the race for governor of Connecticut has incumbent Dan Malloy behind his Republican challenger Tom Foley by 45 to 38%. In very blue Connecticut, those are staggering numbers. It's not just that Foley is ahead by 7%, a landslide for a Republican. It's also that an incumbent Democrat is polling at only 38%. The head of ISIS could poll 38% in Connecticut if he were running as a Democrat.
The poll may be a fluke although other recent polls have Foley in the lead. Nevertheless, those numbers are the kind of thing that could indicate that election day is going to be a very long one for Connecticut Democrats.
There is no question that governor Malloy has done a poor job. He raised taxes to supposedly close a big budget gap, and now, after spending again soared, we are facing a new massive budget gap. The Connecticut economy has been stagnant, performing much worse than almost every other state in the country. It's nice to know that the people of the state have noticed. Malloy really does deserve to lose.
