Death For No Reason

In the last day, Hamas has executed about 40 people in Gaza who were accused of "collaboration" with the Israelis.  The people involved received no real trials; they were  just arrested and executed within a two day span.  We do not have full information about the identities of those who were slaughtered by Hamas, but it seems that most of the men executed were affiliated in one way or another with Fatah, the party of Palestinian president Abbas.  Hamas seems to be using claims of collaboration to rid itself of potential adversaries within Gaza.

Meanwhile, the rockets and artillery continue to spew out of Gaza and into Israel.  Today, Hamas got lucky.  It had one missile that hit a synagogue in Ashdod, a strike that injured three.  It also managed to hit a home at an agricultural village near Gaza with mortar fire.  That attack killed a four year old boy.  There was a celebration held by Hamas in Gaza when news of the boy's death was released.  It is worth noting that the attack by Hamas was launched from a UN school in Gaza.

There is no longer any plausible reason for these deaths.  Hamas fought the war and it lost.  It has only about 30% of the missiles that it possessed at the start of the fighting.  It has lost essentially all of its expensive secret tunnel network.  It has lost the support of the Saudis and the Egyptians.  Even Iran no longer supports Hamas in fact; the Iranians announce support, but do nothing.  Each day that fighting continues, Hamas uses up more and more of its missiles but gains nothing.  More people get injured or killed when the Israelis fire back at the launch site.

It really is time for Hamas to stop shooting.  Otherwise, we may soon see another Israeli incursion into Gaza.  This time, the Israelis will go house to house and wipe Hamas out once and for all.
