More Overlooked News

It's worth taking a look at some lesser known stories in the news, items that get essentially no coverage in America.  Here are two that merit attention:

1.  ISIS is in Lebanon too.  By now, most people know that ISIS operates in Syria and Iraq, but few realize that ISIS has also launched attacks in Lebanon.  In the last week, ISIS has been killing off the Lebanese soldiers that it holds as prisoners.  The terrorists are demanding that the Lebanese government release an ISIS commander who was arrested in Lebanon some weeks ago.  After that arrest, ISIS captures a town and an army base in Lebanon and left after about a week with 19 or 20 Lebanese soldiers as captives.  Now, ISIS is releasing videos on line of executions of the captives.

It is worth noting that the first soldier who was beheaded was a Sunni Moslem.  Supposedly, ISIS is comprised of Sunnis.  The truth, however, is that the religious aspects of ISIS are less important than the power the group wants (except in propaganda).

2.  The Israeli navy took delivery of its fourth Dolphin class submarine.  These submarines are part of Israel's long term strategy for dealing with Iran.  While not officially confirmed, it is believed that the subs can carry nuclear missiles.  Were the Iranians to contemplate a nuclear attack on Israel, the mullahs can no longer assume that a first strike might wipe out the Jewish state and leave Iran untouched.  The subs provide a secure launch pad for a counterstrike that could destroy the Islamic Republic.
