Recent events make me wonder whether or not president Obama is actually capable of making major decisions. Just this week we heard that Obama will not take action on immigration despite his earlier promise to do so by the end of the Summer. The media portrays this as a cagey move by Obama to put off action until after the election so as to avoid a backlash that might hurt Democrats, but is it really? Is this just another manifestation of Obama's inability to make big decisions. Last week, of course, we heard from Obama himself that he has no strategy for dealing with ISIS. Obama, however, has been warned in intelligence briefing for over a year of the dangers of ISIS and he told America a year ago that he was developing a strategy with regard to terrorists in Syria like ISIS. Well it's a year later and Obama still has not decided on that strategy. At the start of the Summer, Obama told us that the use of tax inversions by American corporations was unpatriotic and action needed to be taken to stop businesses from moving their headquarters outside of the USA. Months have passed and nothing has been done. It is not just that there has been no action by Congress (which, of course, has been on vacation for the last six weeks.) No, there have been no actions taken by Obama who previously told us that he could take action on his own. Nor has Obama even made a proposal to Congress as to how he thought we should proceed. In other words, Obama seemingly cannot decide how to deal with this tax problem.
Here are a few more examples: Obama has been negotiating with Iran regarding the Iranian nuclear program. No matter what happens, however, Obama always wants to talk more. Iran actually announced that it saw no likelihood of an agreement and the Obama response was to agree to more talks and a delay in taking any real action. Once again, no decision was made. Then there is the mother of all indecision, Obama's lack of action on the Keystone Pipeline. It has been almost six years and Obama still will not take a position on this project.
Someone needs to get Obama a copy of "Decision making for Dummies".
