As if There Wasn't Enough Bad News

Hooray!  We just learned that when terrorists took over the airport in Tripoli, Libya about six weeks ago, they captured eleven commercial airliners of two Libyan airlines.  Just think about that for a moment.  Imagine that the terrorists decide to use these planes for 9-11 style attacks.  It would not be that hard to move the planes to other airports, repaint them as planes from some other country and send them off to crash into sensitive locations.  Just think how the Islamists would celebrate if a jet crashed into St Peter's in the Vatican.  Maybe the terrorists could kill the Pope or at least a few thousand Catholics.  Would the Italian air force actually shoot down a plane that looked like a Delta flight into the Rome airport?  Or how about a crash into the Israeli parliament building?  Jerusalem is within easy flying distance of Libya.  Most likely, the Israelis would be less hesitant to shoot down such a plane if they believed it was flown by terrorists.  Even so, just think of the agonizing decision of a Western leader who had to decide whether or not to shoot down what might be a civilian airliner.

Some of the planes in question could actually fly from Africa to South America and land somewhere like Bolivia or Venezuela.  After that, it would not be too hard to get to North America for a follow up to 9-11.

I am sure that president Obama has no strategy for dealing with this threat.  Maybe the terrorists should threaten to take out the clubhouse at Obama's favorite golf course.  At least that would get his attention.
