There are something like fifteen polling firms that ask Americans about approval/disapproval of the job that president Obama is doing. The numbers approving of his performance in office has been lower than those who disapprove for a long time. Last fall, when the Obamacare website was such a disaster, Obama's approval ratings fell to their worst levels ever. For much of the time since then, the approval levels have gradually improved until May of this year. Now, however, they seem to be in free fall. According to the Real Clear Politics average of all the polls, those who disapprove of Obama's job performance outnumber those who approve by about 14% and the trend is not good for the president. Indeed, the only polling firm showing Obama anywhere near breakeven is Rasmussen, a firm that most Democrats deride as being biased for Republicans. If the Rasmussen results are removed from the calculation, Obama has now hit his lowest level of approval EVER!!
This polling result is not just a meaningless number. The president's job approval rating is one of the best indicators for how the candidates of the president's party will do in mid-term elections. It is less than four and a half months until the November elections. If Obama's approval numbers remain right where they are at that point, the Democrats will be looking at a major disaster.
