Mum, not Mom, is the Word

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is refusing to speak to his family.

I have been wondering for the last week why we have not heard Bergdahl's parents telling us about their son's condition.  I kept watching for the video of the parents arriving in Germany to visit their son.  After all, these seem like the normal things that would get put into the media after the return of someone like Bergdahl who was gone for years.

I wonder why Bergdahl does not want even to speak to his parents.  We know he is not physically incapacitated; he was in stable condition when he got to Germany, and we keep hearing reports about how he is getting "stronger".  He clearly was able to speak to his mother and father.  Some stories hinted that the doctors might be keeping Bergdahl from seeing his parents, but it surely seemed hard to believe that the doctors would prevent the man from speaking to his mother and father.  At least now, the lack of communication makes sense; Bergdahl doesn't want to speak to them.
