How To Spin This?

Of all the mainstream media, Reuters is one of the most supportive outlets for president Obama.  That is why the latest polling of job approval done for Reuters is so significant.  According to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll, the American public disapproves of Obama's performance in office by a margin of 58 to 36%.  Those are not just poor numbers; they are a staggeringly bad disaster for Obama and the Democrats.  Obama's numbers in the Reuters' polls have been sinking for months.  Other polling has also found Obama's numbers weakening.

All of this presents the mainstream media with a major problem.  How can they report their own polls while spinning them to support Obama?  Some media outlets have decided to ignore the polls.  After a recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll showed support for Obama plunging, particularly with regard to foreign policy, NBC News chose not to report the results of its own poll.  Of course, since the poll was taken jointly with the Wall Street Journal, the results got out and were broadcast on other networks.  Nevertheless, NBC just could not bring itself to tell America that its hero, president Obama, had lost the support of nearly two thirds of America with regard to his conduct of foreign policy.

For its part, Reuters also chose to ignore the job approval numbers.  It only reported on the section of the poll in which Americans were found to oppose intervention by the USA in Iraq.  The entire poll was made public, but Reuters left it to others to point out the collapse of Obama's job approval numbers.
