In an amazing twist, the Obama White House is now trying to pin the blame for the swap of Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban terrorist leaders on a man who clearly is incapable of defending himself: Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel. Anyone who saw Hagel testify at his confirmation hearing or who has heard Hagel speak since that time understands that Hagel is a moron. Now, however, the White House says he made the FINAL decision on the Bergdahl swap. Here, in part, is how the story is reported in the Mail Online:
Just imagine what this means! We are now being told by Obama that five extremely evil terrorist leaders were released and Obama did not make that decision. We are now being told that the swap went ahead in secrecy despite the clear legal requirement that Congress get notice prior to any release from Gitmo, but Obama did not make the decision to proceed in that way. We are now being told by Obama that he was basically just along for the ride; he did not make the decision; Hagel was the moron who did so.
Even for Obama, this is a despicable lie -- and that is truly saying something. Can we really have a president who is such a coward that he cannot face the American people and tell them that he made a mistake? Must every failure be pushed off onto someone other than Obama? Are we to believe that all those earlier stories about how Obama came to the decision were phony?
Every time I think things cannot get any worse with Obama, they do just that.
Final approval for the prisoner exchange that freed Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl was made by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, members of Congress learned on Monday from administration officials.
'They indicated (it was) Secretary Hagel (who made the final call),' Rep. Buck McKeon (R-CA) said after a classified briefing, ABC points out.
'It was the president of the United States that came out (in the Rose Garden) with the Bergdahls and took all the credit and now that there’s been a little pushback he’s moving away from it and it’s Secretary Hagel?'
