I Wonder

There are at the moment a number of questions that make me wonder what is actually happening.

1.  Which Democrat came up with the idea to charge that the Republicans want to impeach president Obama, and how is that working out for the Dems?  On the surface, it seems like a good fund raising move.  With this administration, we already know that fund raising is the one thing at which they really excel.  But has the talk of impeachment from the Democrats actually undermined whatever fragile unity of purpose still remained in Washington?  Will Republicans (who will likely control the House after the election and may also control the Senate) remember this ploy next year?  Oh, I don't mean that they will impeach Obama in retaliation; that is extremely unlikely unless Obama does something worse than he already has done.  But Congress could easily pass spending bills which do not fund measures that Obama puts in place by executive fiat rather than by proper legal and constitutional means.  That would set up a major constitutional crisis.

2.  Why has Obama decided to stop enforcing the immigration laws?  I am not talking about the unaccompanied children right now.  I wonder why Obama is no longer having the border guards prevent adults from illegally entering the country.  There seems to be no political gain in the move for Obama or the Democrats, so why is it happening?

3.  Why is it that Obama, after denouncing moves by corporations to change their locations of incorporation for tax reasons, has still not offered any plan for how to stop these moves?  Just offering a plan with an effective date of today would stop these moves dead.  I know that.  The IRS knows that.  Someone in the Obama administration must know that.  So why doesn't Obama do that?  Remember, no one is Washington is out campaigning to preserve the right of large companies to change their domicile abroad for tax purposes.  This is one of those rare areas where there truly is bipartisan agreement on the best result for the country.  Why doesn't Obama act?

4.  Why do so many candidates for office use old and tired tactics that make their ads worthless?  How many times have you heard essentially the same ads put forward by different candidates?  If candidate X tells you that he had to "meet a payroll" in the past would it actually get you to vote for him?  If candidate Y has an ad that calls his opponent a "liberal" or a "conservative" when that claim is obviously not true, will it affect your vote?  Our politicians spend billions of dollars on campaign advertising; they are slaves to the fund raisers as a result.  Why don't they put out effective ads?
