Have you heard the White House explain that the trade with the Taliban for the release of Bowe Bergdahl had to happen in order not to leave any of our soldiers behind? It annoys me greatly. Think about it. We know that tens of thousands of our veterans have been "left behind" with no access to care at the VA. No one is sure just how many people died while waiting for treatment, but we know that the number is over 50 and probably more like 500. Is there some difference between leaving a veteran to die without medical care and trading terrorists for an American living with the Taliban? If so, I don't see it. The life of one man who served in the military is worth no less than the life of another.
If president Obama were serious about leaving no one behind, he would have cleared up the mess at the VA long ago. Indeed, the truth is that Obama probably green lighted the swap for Bergdahl as a move to get the VA scandal off the front pages. With Obama, politics always triumphs over doing what is best for America.
