A Man Made Disaster

Brooks County Texas is just a bit smaller than the state of Rhode Island, but its total population is just over 7000 people.  To put it mildly, it is a desolate place.  The county is located in South Texas about 35 miles from the Mexican border.  In the last year, it has been traversed repeatedly by illegal immigrant who come across the Rio Grande and then head north on foot while being unsure of exactly where they are going.

The key point about the flow of illegals through Brooks County is that many of them get lost in the wilderness and end up dead.  According to a report in the UK Daily Mail, there have been over 1000 bodies recovered in Brooks County in recent months.

This is really an intolerable situation.  It is bad enough that our border is so easily crossed that hundreds of thousands just walk into America unchallenged.  It is worse, however, that thousands end up dying in barren areas along the border because no one is there to find them.  I know that president Obama does not want to waste his time trying to enforce the border, but shouldn't he want to have border patrol agents in place so that they can prevent these unlucky people from walking off to their deaths?
