Did you know that the United States has done everything possible to support Ukraine's government and to deter Russia short of going to war? I have to confess that I did not know that. I learned about it today when president Obama told the nation just that in a statement/press conference at the White House.
I have to admit that I am still shocked each time Obama tells a blatant lie. I mean the man is the President of the United States of America. He leads our nation and he ought to be telling us all the truth. But he's not. He's telling lies. He's doing that again and again.
How can Obama stand there and say that America has done everything possible to support the Ukraine short of going to war? Have we done any of the following:
1. Sent weapons like tanks, armored personnel carriers or even Humvees to Ukraine?
2. Sent ammunition for the weapons the Ukrainians already have?
3. Sent people to train the Ukrainian forces how to use various weapons systems?
4. Denounced Russia for directly arming and controlling the Russian "separatists"?
5. Imposed real, biting sanctions on Russia like cutting off the Kremlin and those who do business with the Kremlin from the American banking and financial system? (Just think how quickly all those European firms would drop the Russians if the choice were between doing business in America or Russia.)
The simple answer is that the USA has done none of these things, even though not a single one involves going to war.
If Obama wants to explain to the country why he has chosen not to take a harder line against the Russians, he should do so. We could then all debate the merits of that position. Without a doubt, however, Obama should not just lie about what he has been doing. Despite what Obama may think, he still works for us and not vice versa.
We demand the truth!
