Secretary of State John Kerry has done it again. Kerry wants to change the focus of the cease fire negotiations underway in Cairo. Instead of trying to arrange a longer term end to the fighting between the Hamas terrorists and Israel, Kerry want to instead focus the effort on finding a final peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.
What is wrong with Kerry? We just got to the point where there is actually a three day cease fire in place and working. If no agreement is reached, there most likely will be a resumption of hostilities in just hours from now. So instead of focusing on keeping that cease fire in place, Kerry wants to move on to talking about a settlement which Kerry was unable to arrange after years of discussions between Israel and the Palestinian Authority. It is as if Kerry wants to guarantee that the current cease fire falls apart.
There is nothing wrong with talking about long term peace, but first there needs to be peace in the short term.
Another way of saying that is "Kerry is a total moron." You can choose which one you like better.
