Someone Better Tell Obama to Do Something -- There's No Time To Waste

As I write this, there are 40,000 people trapped on a mountain in northwestern Iraq surrounded by ISIS fighters who will let no one in and no one out.  That is not a typo.  There are FORTY THOUSAND PEOPLE, including over 20,000 children who are trapped by the ISIS terrorists on this mountain.  The trapped people are nearly all Christians and Yazidis with a few Moslems mixed in.  The ISIS fighters want the trapped folks to either convert to the ISIS version of Sunni Islam or to die.  The people on the mountain are without food and water.  They have no medical supplies.  They do not even have shelter from the weather for the most part.  If nothing is done NOW, thousands or tens of thousands of these people will die.

In this situation with terrorists on the verge of killing 40,000 innocent Iraqis, one would think that the decision how to proceed would not be that difficult for president Obama.  American forces could easily break the siege of these folks and get them off the mountain to safety.  Obama, however, is not acting.  Hopefully, that will change quickly, but right now, Obama is "considering" the situation.  As he does with every problem, Obama ponders how to react until it is too late to do anything positive, so he does nothing.  That was the method Obama employed in Syria.  Now there are over 200,000 dead in that country alone.  It was also the method Obama employed concerning the Ukraine.  Crimea is now part of Russia and thousands more are dying in the eastern sections of Ukraine.

Look, it is not the job of the USA to protect Christian Iraqis from their Moslem neighbors.  I think most Americans would agree with that.  But this is different.  ISIS is only in northern Iraq because Obama did such a poor job of arranging the American departure from that country.  The people on the mountain are only there because the USA did not give ammunition to the Kurdish fighters who were protecting them.  By the way, that was yet another issue that Obama "considered" until it was too late.  The people on the mountain include many who help America when our troops were in Iraq.  We cannot abandon them now.

For the last few weeks, Obama (and John Kerry) have complained non-stop about civilian casualties in Gaza.  Roughly 800 Palestinian civilians died in the fighting there mostly because Hamas used schools, hospitals and mosques as launch sites for missiles and the civilians got hit when Israel fired back at the launch sites.  That is 800 people who Hamas wrongfully put in the middle of the fighting.  Now we are talking about 50 times more people who are all innocent civilians and who are far from all fighting.  ISIS is literally starving them to death.  How can we complain about the Palestinians and yet sit by while 40,000 are murdered by terrorists in Iraq?

Obama has got to get off his backside and act.  There is no time to waste.
