Yesterday, it was decided that the USA would arm the Kurdish forces in Syria who are engaged in the battle against ISIS with us. The Kurds, more than any other force in Syria, have carried the bulk of the effort against ISIS on their backs. The Obama administration talked about arming the Kurds, but never actually took that action for fear of angering Turkey who considers the Kurds to be terrorists (which they are not.)
The decision to arm the Kurds is another pretty good indicator that the indecision and lack of will that characterized the US government under Obama have ended. President Trump has made a decision and it will be implemented. There's no guarantee that it will be the correct decision, although I believe that it will be proven correct. There is no doubt, however, that when a decision is needed, it is better to make the choice than to just dither and do nothing.
The key here is that by arming the Kurds, it will permit the attack on Raqqa to begin so that ISIS will be faced with having to defend its positions in Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria at the same time. ISIS just doesn't have the forces to do that.
