I just heard a CBS News story in which the reporter said that the reason for President Trump firing Comey was to prevent Comey from finishing the investigation into possible ties between the Trump campaign and Russia. It's an insult to reporters to call the person who said this a reporter, and it's pretty clear that most reporters are far from geniuses.
Think about this for a second. Who does the reporter think is doing the investigating at the FBI? I give him a hint: it isn't Comey and never has been Comey. The investigation is being done by field agents, probably thirty or forty of them. There are supervisors to whom the agents report and certainly one special agent in charge who is heading the investigation internally at the FBI. All Comey ever did was to get periodic reports from the special agent in charge. The investigation will go on. Nothing has been stopped. Only a total moron (or someone with absolutely no knowledge about how these things go) would claim anything to the contrary.
It's also worth remembering that the Deputy Attorney General was just confirmed two weeks ago by the Senate. That late date was due to the Democrats slow-walking all of President Trump's nominees in their confirmations. When Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein came up for a vote, it was well known that he would be the person in the government who would be in charge of the Russia/Trump investigation. He has an impeccable record and was approved overwhelmingly by all senators once the vote was finally held. Once he took office, the first major thing he did was to request and recommend that his subordinate, the director of the FBI, be removed from office. That request was approved. Now, the same Democrats who approved Rosenstein treat his recommendation as if it led to the end of the world. It's such hypocrisy.
