More IRS Games (Lies)

We now know why it was that the head of the IRS division that approves applications for tax exempt status apologized on Friday for the IRS harrassing Tea Party and Conservative groups.  She claimed she had just discovered what had happened.  That was a lie.  The truth is that the Inspector General was about to issue a report exposing the practice, so the division head decided to try to get out in front on the issue.  The amazing thing, however, is that this genius announced to the press that neither she nor anyone else high up at the IRS had any knowledge that the harrasment had taken place.  Now we learn that according to the report of the Inspector General, this same division head was interviewed by the IG in 2011 about the practices and she acknowledged knowing about them.

Let's take a break for a moment in the flow of the story to emphasize the idiocy of the IRS.  The head of the division which considers applications for tax exempt status on Friday announced that she had no prior knowledge of the subject.  Not only is that a lie, but it is a lie that she knew would be exposed just a few days later.

The IRS story now is that what happened is just a few over zealous bureaucrats in Ohio got carried away.  Of course, then another story appeared in which it turns out that the IRS was also harrassing Jewish groups that support Israel.  What in the world is going on there?

It really is hard to figure out what these people think that they are doing.
