Just a Few Facts Worth Repeating

It's worth taking a moment to consider four facts:

1.)  In Baghdad in the last day, 15 bodies were discovered.  They are dead who appear to have been murdered in the sectarian fighting in Iraq.  In just the last week, over 500 Iraqis have died.  Over 90% of those who died were not killed in fighting; they were executed by ISIS, the Sunni terrorist group that has proclaimed a caliphate in Anbar province and other sections of the Northwest and North Central parts of Iraq.

2.)  In Syria in the last week, over 1000 people were killed in attacks and counterattacks by the Assad government and the various groups of rebels.  Most of the dead are civilians rather than soldiers.  The level of slaughter in Syria has been rising.  The death totals are now over 250,000 killed.

3)  In Gaza in the last week, the about 300 people have died as a result of the fighting between Israel and Hamas.  Roughly half of the dead are soldiers, although it is difficult to get an accurate number.  The Gaza statistics come from Hamas which, for propaganda purposes, calls many of its fighters "civilians" in order to make the numbers of civilian deaths look worse.

4.)  Around the world during the last week, there have been no demonstrations regarding the deaths in Iraq.  There have been no demonstrations regarding the deaths in Syria.  There have been numerous demonstrations regarding the deaths in Gaza.  Similarly, the UN has held no meetings in the last week about Iraq or Syria.  Only Israel and Gaza have been the subject of constant meetings in the Security Council.  Secretary of State John Kerry and president Obama have made no attempt to end the fighting in Syria.  That's not just for the last week; they have never tried to end the Syrian fighting which has claimed a quarter of a million people's lives.  Obama and Kerry are also ignoring Iraq, even though some of the blame for the current disaster in Iraq belongs to the USA.  Obama won't even help our friends the Kurds defend themselves from the ISIS attacks in Iraq.  At the same time, Kerry is flying like a madman around the world attempting to negotiate a cease fire for Gaza with anyone who will listen to him.  The two key nations, of course, are Egypt and Israel and Kerry has managed to insult and anger both of them by accepting many of the more outrageous of Hamas' demands.

Why is it acceptable for the world to ignore thousands of dead Arabs in Syria and Iraq but not hundreds in Gaza?

Think about it.
