Today is a very busy news day. There is the fighting between Israelis and Hamas in Gaza. There is the aftermath of the Russians or their agents shooting down a Malaysian Airlines plane over Ukraine. There are the usual items about fighting in Syria and Iraq. There is also the border crisis in the USA as thousands pour in from Mexico and swamp the border patrol. These are not, however, the biggest news stories of the day. In fact, the most important news is hardly being noticed by the media. Here is the big story:
The diplomats have now agreed to extend the date by which Iran and the rest of the world must reach agreement on the future of the Iranian nuclear program. The deadline had been set for next Sunday. It has now been extended to late November!!!!!!!
It is hard to overstate the importance of this extension. First of all, president Obama had promised Congress that under no circumstances would the USA agree to any extension of the deadline. Of course, that was just another Obama lie. Iran is still using its centrifuges to enrich uranium into raw material for atomic weapons. It now gets four more months to complete the process. As part of the extension of the deadline, America and its allies are releasing another 2.8 billion dollars in frozen Iranian assets. That means that not only does Iran get to go ahead with its program unhindered for another four months, but it also gets rewarded with a huge amount of cash for doing so.
This extension is actually a complete surrender by Obama and the West to allowing an Iranian nuclear bomb. The only remaining question is how Israel will react to this news. The Israelis may decide that despite the ongoing battle with Hamas, Israel has no choice but to try to take out the Iranian nuclear program. Clearly, the USA will be no help in that effort. Such a move would be high stakes poker to say the least. Remember, those of you who think that a downed Malaysian airliner or fighting in Gaza is big news; just wait until Iran has the bomb. Just wait!
