Our Ally

Which country is America's closest ally in the Middle East?  For most Americans the answer to that question is Israel.  And which close American ally in the Middle East is being targeted by hundreds of missiles in each of the last six days?  Again, the answer is Israel.  These are really not tough questions.  Now comes the hard question.  Which major world power has a leader who has not spoken to his Israeli counterpart since the missile attacks began on Israel six days ago.  Okay, so it is not that hard a question.  The answer is the USA; president Obama has been too busy playing pool in Denver and going to fund raisers in Dallas to be bother with speaking to the Israeli prime minister.

Now before you tell me how this is just some right wing conspiracy nonsense, let me assure that CBS News is reporting that Obama has not spoken to prime minister Netanyahu.  The Israeli leader has spoken to the prime minister of the United Kingdom, David Cameron.  Netanyahu has also spoken to the president of France, the prime minister of Canada, the chancellor of Germany, the secretary general of the United Nations and even the president of Russia according to news reports.  So Netanyahu was certainly available for a call.

The White House has no explanation for why Obama has chosen not to speak to our Israeli allies.  Most likely we will learn tomorrow that no one told Obama that Israel was under attack until he heard about it in the media.  He will then announce that he is mad as hell and going to get to the bottom of why he was kept in the dark.

This is real world stuff.  The Israelis have been lucky so far, but the Hamas rockets could have killed thousands had they not been shot down by the Israelis Iron Dome system.  Unfortunately, it is likely just a matter of time until one of those rockets gets through.  Shouldn't our president at least talk to the Israelis to express our support?  Has Obama had some sort of mental breakdown that prevents him from acting on anything?
