As the Obamacare website mess has continued, we keep hearing from the president's defenders that while the federal site is having problems, the state sites are doing fine. To be clear, 17 states have their own websites and the rest use the federal site, so problems at the federal site affect the bulk of the country. And now, we are getting information about the state sites that indicates that everything there is not doing that well.
The state of Delaware site has been operational since October 1. In the seven and a half weeks since going operational, the site has sold four insurance policies. That number is not a glitch (to use Washington's new favorite word.) Delaware sold 4 policies. According to current estimates, there are about 75,000 uninsured folks in Delaware. At this rate, the Delaware exchange could sell insurance to cover all of them by the year 3887.
