In an interesting twist, the recent attack on storage facilities at a Syrian air force base that destroyed large quantities of anti-aircraft missiles and other advanced weapons is now said to be the result of actions by Turkey. Oh, there are the stories that attribute the attack to Israel. Supposedly, an unnamed American official confirmed that it was the Israelis who leveled the buildings housing the weapons that were apparently intended to be shipped to Hezbollah in Lebanon. But now Lebanese media is reporting that the operation was a joint effort by Israel and Turkey. Clearly, that would not be surprising since the Turks are stridently anti-Assad, anti-Hezbollah and pro-Syrian rebels. The Turkish Foreign Minister has denied the report and said that there is no way that Turkey would work with Israel to attack a Moslem country, but his denials seem staged.
Lets hope that the Turks and the Israelis are actually cooperating. Keeping this sort of advanced weaponry from the terror groups like Hezbollah is essential if the world is to stay safe from attacks on commercial aviation. Indeed, rather than "confirming" Israeli involvement, the American official ought to have been talking about how the USA was involved in keeping anti-aircraft missiles from Hezbollah.
