If It Ain't Broke, Don't Claim It

I just read a rather startling article that details the income of the Clintons since Bill left the White House.  According to the Senate disclosure forms filed by Hillary Clinton, the family income for Bill and Hillary in 2001 was over sixteen million dollars.  That's not their net worth; it is their income.  That sixteen million dollars was earned by this pair that Hillary said was "dead broke" at the start of 2001.  Over the next decade, the Clintons earned well over 100 million dollars.  Of that, they gave 9% to charity, but much of that charity was to the Clinton foundation which just happens to pay for a large amount of expenses that the Clintons themselves would otherwise incur.  (Can you say tax dodge?)

One has to wonder how Hillary Clinton could think that she was broke.  Is it possible that this woman has no understanding of the lives of the millions of Americans struggling to get by each day?  Hillary and her husband made sixteen million dollars in one year, a sum that is many, many multiples of what most Americans earn in their entire lifetime, but Hillary says they were broke. 

Each time the is a presidential election, the pollsters always ask the electorate to name "which candidate cares more about people like you?"  If Hillary runs, that task ought to be really easy.  Hillary has no idea what life is like for the average American.  In her world she is "dead broke" if she is only going to take in sixteen million dollars in the next year.  We should all be so broke!
