President Obama is in Poland today. After arriving, he answered a few questions from the press which for the most part centered on the swap of five Gitmo Taliban terrorists for American Bowe Bergdahl. Sadly, Obama did not say what consideration he gave to the fact that Bergdahl had allegedly deserted his post prior to joining the Taliban. He did not explain why Bergdahl was never listed as a POW by the Pentagon. In truth, Obama did not explain much of anything; he just repeated the same positive spin of the original announcement. In my opinion, America is entitled to an answer to exactly what happened here. Why did Obama not notify Congress? It cannot be that there was no time. We learned yesterday that the swap was finalized last Tuesday, but it did not take place until five days later. Obama could easily have notified Congress five days earlier than he actually did, something which was required by a law that Obama himself signed.
