The Big Lie

Tonight, I heard the most amazing statement I can recall coming from a president.  Barack Obama announced today that the new EPA regulations that require utilities to retrofit power plants to cut carbon dioxide emissions will reduce the cost of electricity across the country.  The estimates are that utilities will need to spend about $50 billion during the rest of this decade to comply with these regulations.  That is not surprising.  All those coal fired power plants cannot presently meet the requirements of the regulations; they will either have to be totally upgraded or new plants using other fuel will need to be built.  When all this money is spent, America will not have the capacity to produce any more power; the only thing that will have changed is the level of carbon dioxide emissions.  The way our public utilities operate, that investment of $50 billion will be passed on to the ratepayers.  Without a doubt, that means the cost of power will soar.  As Obama said when he was a candidate in 2008, under his plan, the cost of electricity would necessarily soar.  I know that.  You know that.  Anyone who has even a rudimentary knowledge of our economy knows that.  Even Obama and his staff know that.  But the president of the United States of America is out there telling lies to the American people and his staff is backing up those phony statements.

I cannot recall another president who has elevated lying to such a level.  There seems to be nothing about which Obama will not lie.  It is appalling.
