The security force at the last home game for the WNBA Minneapolis team walked off the job in protest when the players came out dressed in t-shirts that equated the attack on police in Dallas with the shootings by police in Baton Rouge and St. Paul. The move caught the team, league and even the city of Minneapolis flat footed. The security force consists of off duty police who refused to work after what they perceived as an inappropriate action by the team and its players.
Nothing happened after the walk out. The game went on without a hitch. The mayor of Minneapolis, however, today called the men who walked out "jackasses". My guess, however, is that we won't see those t-shirts on the players again. Sports teams are unlikely to alienate any group of their fans.
