It wasn't as big as the Clinton Foundation, but the educational charity that representative Corrine Brown of Florida kept pushing was allegedly a complete fraud. Very little of the funds raised were spent on education. Instead, the funds went to vacations for Brown and others, tickets to Beyoncé concerts, and the like. As of today, the Florida Democrat has been indicted on multiple counts of fraud.
Finding a corrupt congressman (or congresswoman) is not a really big deal; there have been enough of them over the years. What's sad here is the response from Nancy Pelosi, the Democrats' leader in the House. She praised Brown's public service and said she is "saddened" by the charges. Wouldn't it make more sense to say that if the charges prove to be accurate, Brown is a disgrace to her office and needs to leave the House?
